Is it legal to sample songs to use on productions?

I’m a upcoming hip hop beat maker. I have an MPC 2000XL and I was wondering about the sampling techniques. I’ve made various beats/productions that include samples from old songs etc. etc. But I am afraid to sell them because of copyrights. For example, I took a vinyl record from The Beetles called Something. I put it on the turntable. Loaded it to the MPC, chopped it up to get the drums and a guitar. Then made a beat outta the chopped instruments from the song. Once I am finished I mix it and finished. Then I sell it to an artist that wants to use the beat. I know I can get sued. But how do I get permission to use the beat and sell it??? Do I have to pay?? RZA from the wu tang clan, Kanye West, and others probally have to pay alot because they use alot of samples from old records.

The best way to get permission is to write to the publisher and ask for it explaining why you need this permission. Will you have to pay? Yes. Include it as a business expence so you can deduct it from your income tax.

Does anyone have a movie maker project with a countdown clock in which i can download?

I have a stop-motion account on youtube and my next match im making is were the wrestlers have 15 minutes to beat a clock etc… And to make it better i wanted a clock at the botom left hand side of the screen in royal blue in arial font, could anyone help and make a project like this and upload to a file upload site so I can download it?

How can I beat it there somwhere I can get lessons and can make a simple beat?

I mean I always thought about it Beats what I love it when you use the easy thing to beat the machines, the tracks are made with and sounds already, but I really want to beat in and songs do produce quite a bit. Already the first thing you need … the desire to do it. There are many ways to get started, depending on how much have free time and save get money. First you must decide if your beats are hardware or software based. I call the pros and cons of the two. Obviously the hardware is older of the two. This would be dedicated to drum machines and samplers like old school SP-1200 (DJ Premiere Sound) or MPC (more like Kanye). What is considered a typical contract for a Music Producer (Beat Maker) in hip hop and r&b? I know it usually depends on the Producer and artist..however i am curious as to whether or not there is an industry standard. Does the artist pay an upfront fee for the track, then a percentage from units sold?
I’ve been working with several artist lately and i’m trying to figure out a way to develop some smart reasonable contracts for my clients.

It seems that many great producers, like DJ Premier, Just Blaze, Pete Rock, DJ Shadow, etc, were/are DJs as well. Is being a DJ a prerequisite for being a good beat maker? Not saying that I would hate to be one, but for now I cannot afford another turntable (only have one right now).
