ipod volume problems?

i just got a ipod nano and i just downloaded a couple songs about to download more and i was browsing through yesterday and i went to settings and found the volume limit. i put it to max and then i played a song with a hard beat, its T.I. with Top Back. one of my friends said if i keep playing my songs on max i can damage my ears for life, i have 3 questions.

1. iPod manufacturers make the volume limit so high because some people have very poor hearing and need it up that loud to hear it. Others turn the volume up for fun, and some need it that loud if there is excessive background noise.

2. The earphones should last quite a while with max volume. Apple made the iPod to withstand that maximum volume.

3. Sound and Your Ears
You can hear because your ears convert the vibrations of a sound wave in the air into signals that your brain interprets as sound. When the vibrations of a sound wave enter your ear, your eardrum and a set of tiny bones in your ear (the well-known hammer, anvil, and stirrup) amplify those vibrations. In your inner ear, these amplified vibrations move tiny hair cells that then convert the vibrations into nerve impulses sent to your brain. Your brain then interprets these nerve impulses as sound.
If you expose your ears to excessive sound pressure, you can harm those small hair cells in your ears. And if harmed, those hair cells can lose the ability to transmit sound to your brain. As a result, you could experience noise-induced hearing loss. Symptoms can include distorted or muffled sound or difficulty understanding speech.

Is it legal to sample songs to use on productions?

I’m a upcoming hip hop beat maker. I have an MPC 2000XL and I was wondering about the sampling techniques. I’ve made various beats/productions that include samples from old songs etc. etc. But I am afraid to sell them because of copyrights. For example, I took a vinyl record from The Beetles called Something. I put it on the turntable. Loaded it to the MPC, chopped it up to get the drums and a guitar. Then made a beat outta the chopped instruments from the song. Once I am finished I mix it and finished. Then I sell it to an artist that wants to use the beat. I know I can get sued. But how do I get permission to use the beat and sell it??? Do I have to pay?? RZA from the wu tang clan, Kanye West, and others probally have to pay alot because they use alot of samples from old records.

The best way to get permission is to write to the publisher and ask for it explaining why you need this permission. Will you have to pay? Yes. Include it as a business expence so you can deduct it from your income tax.
